What is the Interview Project?

The Interview Project is a groundbreaking initiative by Rise to Peace, designed to bring raw, firsthand insights into the world of extremism and terrorism. Unlike conventional research that relies on secondhand sources, this project travels to the heart of conflict zones to interview individuals who have been directly involved—from former extremists and terrorist recruits to survivors, families, community leaders, and even counterterrorism officials.

🔹 Former Terrorists & Recruits – Understanding the recruitment process, their experiences, and how they broke free.
🔹 Survivors & Families – Highlighting the human cost of extremism and how communities rebuild.
🔹 Counterterrorism Officials – Gaining perspectives from those on the front lines of preventing attacks.
🔹 Community Leaders & Educators – Examining the efforts to prevent radicalization at the grassroots level.

This global effort takes us to the Middle East, Africa, South Asia, Europe, and the United States, where we investigate how radicalization happens, what drives individuals to extremism, and most importantly—what brings them back.

Why Did We Create the Interview Project?

I, Ahmad Shah Mohibi, grew up in war, fought in war, and now fight against war. Through lived experience in conflict zones, working alongside U.S. forces, and directly engaging with those affected by terrorism, I have seen how radicalization begins, spreads, and can ultimately be stopped.

But policymakers often rely on academic theories and outdated reports—they lack real-world intelligence on what drives extremism. That’s why Rise to Peace created the Interview Project—to bridge the gap between research and reality.

This project is more than just storytelling—it is a tool to educate governments, policymakers, journalists, students, and the public on the raw truth of terrorism.

Bringing These Stories to the World

The Interview Project will be broadcast across:
🎥 Major news channels (CNN, FOX, Al Jazeera, TRT World & more)
📡 University lecture circuits & academic research platforms
📲 Social media & online streaming platforms
📚 Counterterrorism & policy training programs

By showcasing these unfiltered stories, we shift the conversationfrom politics to people, from numbers to names, from theory to reality.
